Do I need to contact a Funeral Director?
It is advisable for you to contact a local funeral director who will provide compassionate support and advice and will ensure that your loved one is taken care of prior to the funeral, on the day of the funeral and following the funeral.
What is a Funeral Celebrant?
A funeral celebrant is a qualified individual tasked with hosting and officiating funeral services, whether they are non-religious or semi-religious. Their responsibilities extend beyond merely conducting the service; they are actively involved in the meticulous planning of the order of service, selecting appropriate music, writing eulogies, and crafting a meaningful ceremony that honours the life and memory of the deceased loved one. This role is crucial in ensuring that the funeral reflects the unique life and values of the person who has passed away, providing a personalised tribute during a time of mourning and grief.
What are the benefits of choosing a Funeral Celebrant?
A celebrant-led funeral offers a personalised tribute, tailored to reflect the deceased’s unique life and beliefs. This approach allows for flexibility in incorporating meaningful elements, such as specific music, readings and poems to include family and friends creating a more intimate and comforting experience for the grieving family and friends.
What Information will be required to build a meaningful service?
When I meet with a family to discuss the requirements for the funeral service of their loved one, I will discuss items including:
- Where their loved one was born and grew up.
- Details of brothers, sisters and other family members.
- Schooling, growing up and friends
- Marriage, wives, husbands and partners.
- Qualifications and work.
- Hobbies, social interests and holiday memories.
- Musical tastes.
- What will they best be remembered for?
- Did the loved one leave any special requests for their funeral?
Do I require an Order of Service?
Not necessarily, this can also be discussed with the Funeral Director, usually most families do so that everyone knows what is happening on the day of the funeral and this can be kept as one of the memories of a loved one.
Who pays the Funeral Celebrant?
This is usually included in the fees from the Funeral Director.
